Financial Orbit wrap 12-09-14

Five sentences or graphics which sum up the Financial Orbit output over the last 24 hours across the website, twitter account and anything else thought about...

1. Continued weakness in the Japanese yen and Australian dollar continues.  Here's an interesting chart looking at the two local markets in local currency with Japan performing quite a lot better.  I remain long the Japanese index and short the Australian one...on the basis the former overtly is trying to induce some inflation which will overspill into bigger local currency depreciation.

2. Hmmmm:

3. Have been thinking about how to 'play' the current negativity towards Russia.  Whilst rouble-US dollar is all all-time lows, interesting to see the more mixed euro-rouble move which is off the high seen at the time of original Crimea 'excitements':

In terms of stocks...choose from (at the right price) Carlsberg, Polymetal, BP, Danone, Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling and Oriflame...with at least one more name to follow.

4. What a great chart on Fast FT.  Well done the frontier markets...

5. Quote of the day goes to the excellent )

'Don't want to alarm anyone but my barber was giving me stock tips yesterday'

On that bombshell...best to quit for the weekend.

There will be more output on www.financialorbit.com over the weekend.

Have a great weekend.
