Charts today - shorting, Treasuries and the Fed, Alcoa and Brazil/football

Charts today has only one place to start and that is the front page of the Financial Times with this story:


'Be fearful when others are greedy...'?

The S&P did not fall more than 1% yesterday but as the 2009 data falls out the five year SD statistics are falling...hence making shorting psychologically difficult...



All eyes on the Fed minutes today.  The 10 year Treasury has not particularly responded to any rate threat...but the 2 year has.

More on the Alcoa numbers later...but my first observation is that they have changed their chart format away from that very useful global oversight.  Still they reaffirmed demand and numbers seemed mildly ahead.  More on this important kicking off point for the Q2 earnings season later...
