Here are a few finance and related stories to be thinking about ahead of the new working week...
Let’s start with consumption which is, of course around 70% of a developed market economy. So kind of interesting/worrying to read this about UK wage trends in The Sunday Times:
‘wages would not rise above 2007 levels until 2022, adjusting for inflation…Even with unemployment at a 40-year low, shifts in the labour market such as the growth of part-time work and zero-hours contracts suggest that pay has become less responsive to greater competition for jobs’
Hmm…some difficult comps coming up for UK retail sales from the summer onwards. I still like more domestic plays…but focus on your stockpicking.
